What is VCDS (VAG-COM), and can you ‘unlock’ hidden features on my Audi or VW?

Yes! VCDS is dealer-level software used specifically for the Volkswagen Audi Group (VAG). Beyond just clearing fault lights, we can perform “Feature Coding.” This allows us to activate hidden manufacturer options like needle sweep on startup, acoustic locking (the “chirp” when you lock up), disabling Auto Start/Stop, or enabling Optical Parking on your dashboard screen.

My car is a 2018 model—why is the Air Con re-gas more expensive than my old car?

Most vehicles manufactured after 2014/2015 use a new type of environmentally friendly refrigerant called R1234yf. While it is better for the planet, the raw gas is significantly more expensive than the older R134a gas. We carry both types on our mobile unit and will identify exactly which one your car needs before we begin, ensuring your system is recharged safely and legally.

Will a DPF or AdBlue software delete affect my MOT?

Our software solutions are designed to resolve persistent “Limp Mode” and sensor errors that cause dashboard warning lights. While our recalibrations fix the software’s communication with the ECU, we always advise that the physical hardware (the filter itself) must remain intact to meet current UK road MOT visual inspection requirements.

What is a ‘Popcorn Limiter,’ and will it hurt my diesel engine?

A Popcorn Limiter (or Hard-Cut Limiter) changes the way the ECU handles the maximum RPM. Instead of a smooth, “soft” power dip at the redline, it creates a fast, bouncing rev-limiter sound—similar to a petrol rally car. When applied correctly by Auto Remap NI, it is safe for the engine, though we recommend it only for vehicles with a healthy turbo and exhaust system to handle the rapid fueling changes.

Do I need to provide anything, like a garage or power outlet, for a mobile remap?

Not at all. Our mobile tuning van is a fully self-contained workshop. We carry our own stabilised power supplies to keep your vehicle’s battery at the perfect voltage during the delicate ECU writing process (which is critical to prevent “bricking” the computer). As long as we have enough space to park near your vehicle, we can perform remaps, VCDS coding, and Air Con re-gassing on your driveway or at your workplace.
